🌿 Code of Conduct – Life at Berry Springs

Welcome to Berry Springs Farmstay, a private rural property dedicated to sustainable, self-sufficient living. Everyone who resides here becomes part of daily life and shares responsibility for safety, animal welfare, environmental care, solar and bore water usage.

This Code of Conduct outlines how we live and work together respectfully while maintaining a peaceful and responsible environment.

🔒 1. Entry & Security

  • Berry Springs is a private property, not a public space.

  • Only registered caretakers or approved visitors may stay on the premises.

  • Never allow unregistered persons to enter the property.

  • Always close and lock gates to protect animals and maintain security.

⚡ 2. Power & Energy Use

  • The property is off-grid, powered by solar energy with backup batteries.

  • Use power mainly during daylight hours and switch off all devices and power outlets before sunset or storms.

  • Running air conditioners after sunset or using the washing machine on cloudy days requires extra energy — a $50/week contribution must be paid via PayID: info@actandcare.org.au every Monday for the following week.

  • Avoid overloading plugs or power boards and never unplug or move cables connected to essential systems.

💧 3. Water Conservation

  • Water comes from our bore system, so every drop matters.

  • Fill water tanks in the morning and check levels again in the afternoon.

  • Turn off taps completely after each use — dripping taps waste water and power.

  • Before storms, make sure tanks are full and unplug the bore pump to prevent lightning damage.

  • Report leaks or pressure issues immediately.

🐾 4. Animal Care & Welfare

  • Our animals are part of the family, with several being rescues.

  • Do not feed or handle animals without approval or instruction.

  • Always close gates securely after entering or leaving an enclosure.

  • Report any animal injuries, illness, or unusual behavior immediately to the caretaker or owner.

🧹 5. Cleanliness & Shared Areas

  • Keep your area and all shared spaces clean and tidy at all times.

  • Clean the outdoor kitchen and bathroom after each use.

  • Dispose of rubbish and food waste properly to avoid attracting insects or wildlife.

  • Leave all areas better than you found them for the next caretaker or visitor.

🌩️ 6. Weather & Storm Safety

  • Check the weather radar several times daily.

  • Before storms, unplug all electrical items and ensure water tanks are full.

  • Lightning strikes are common — switch off the bore pump and secure outdoor items early.

📱 7. Communication & Updates

  • Important safety updates are shared through our WhatsApp group — please join to stay informed.

  • If unsure about a task or rule, ask before acting.

  • Respect quiet hours and other residents’ privacy.

🌱 8. Respect & Shared Responsibility

  • Show respect to people, animals, and the environment at all times.

  • Don’t enter private areas.
  • Help maintain harmony, safety, and sustainability on the property.

  • Everyone shares the duty of protecting this place and the living beings within it.
