🌿 What to Expect at Berry Springs Farmstay
Berry Springs Farmstay is a private 5-acre hobby farm in the tropical Top End, around 40 minutes from Darwin.
Life here is simple, outdoorsy and close to nature. You’ll share the property with animals, birds and plenty of tropical wildlife.
This is not a hotel or B&B. It is best suited to independent people who enjoy animals, nature, simple living and being part of everyday life on a hobby farm.

🌴 Is This Lifestyle for You?
You should be comfortable with tropical heat and humidity, outdoor living, simple kitchen and bathroom facilities, animals and wildlife, early mornings and keeping your own area clean and tidy.
You’ll hear birds, frogs, geese and other animals — sometimes very early in the morning. That’s part of life here. 😊
If you enjoy a quiet, independent and nature-based lifestyle, you’ll probably feel right at home.
🌅 Morning – approximately 6:30–8:30 am
Helpers who are not involved in animal care generally contribute around 3 hours per day, preferably in the early morning when it is cooler and most outdoor jobs can be done comfortably.
If you are working and unavailable in the morning, helping in the late afternoon can be arranged instead.
🐾 Animal Care
Animal care is separate from the general 3-hour helper arrangement. Animal carers follow the animals’ morning and evening routines, with the exact tasks and times depending on the animals they are caring for.
☀️ During the day
The warmest hours are generally your own time. Relax, work, explore Berry Springs, visit the Nature Park or enjoy the pool.
🌅 Late afternoon / evening
This time is mainly for evening animal care and watering, or for general helpers who cannot help in the morning because of work commitments.
Tropical living takes a little getting used to. Frozen water bottles, rechargeable fans, shade and slowing down during the hottest part of the day can make a huge difference.
💨 We strongly recommend bringing rechargeable fans before you arrive.
🍉 Food & Cooking
Berry Springs Farmstay is best suited to self-sufficient guests who are comfortable with outdoor/camping-style cooking.
🔥 All cooking is outdoors only.
For insurance and fire-safety reasons, no cooking or cooking appliances are allowed inside rooms, caravans or sleeping areas.
We provide:
Outdoor gas cookers and BBQ facilities
Basic outdoor preparation areas
Microwave or small electric oven on request, for use in designated outdoor areas only
Guests provide their own gas bottle, cooking utensils and supplies. Gas bottles can be purchased or exchanged at Berry Springs IGA.
🛒 Groceries are available within walking distance, and Coles and Woolworths deliver to the area.
Please keep food in the designated outdoor kitchen/storage areas and clean up after use. Food and meals should stay out of sleeping areas.
🗑️ Rubbish must be removed immediately, secured in a large bag and kept in your vehicle until disposal so animals and wildlife cannot access it. There are no rubbish bins on the property.
🐸 Wildlife & Tropical Living
Living in the Top End means sharing the environment with wildlife.
You may see frogs, geckos, insects, spiders, birds, monitor lizards and occasionally snakes.
Please do not feed or approach wildlife. Wear appropriate footwear and always use a torch or headlamp when walking outside after dark.
We try to live alongside nature rather than eliminate it. 🌿

Berry Springs is around 40 minutes from Darwin.
We don’t provide airport or city pickups, so please arrange your own transport. Uber may be an option depending on availability.
