Living at Berry Springs means taking shared responsibility for caring for the property, keeping it clean, safe, and functional for everyone. Everyone plays an important role in maintaining our self-sufficient lifestyle. 🌿
🧹 1. Housekeeping & Shared Spaces
Keep your area clean, organized, and tidy at all times.
Wipe benches, sweep floors, and clean up spills immediately.
Outdoor kitchen and bathroom must be cleaned after every use.
Dispose of rubbish properly — food waste attracts insects and animals.
Do not leave personal belongings in shared areas.
🧰 2. Property Maintenance
Small projects like weeding, tidying, fixing fences, or cleaning animal areas help improve the property for the next caretaker.
Please report maintenance issues early — broken hoses, leaks, or tools that need attention.
If you’d like to improve something (build, repair, or decorate), please check with the owner first.
The owner has a budget for approved materials if needed.
💡 3. Power Awareness
The property runs on solar power with backup batteries.
Use power mainly during the day and unplug devices before sunset or storms.
Avoid overloading power boards or using high-consumption appliances.
If you are not self sufficient, a contribution of $50/week paid upfront via PayID: info@actandcare.org.au will be required.
💧 4. Water Management
We rely on bore water and storage tanks.
Turn off all taps completely to avoid flooding or pump damage.
Check water tanks morning and afternoon to ensure they are full.
Before storms, fill tanks and switch off the bore pump to protect it from lightning.
🔧 5. Tools & Equipment
Use tools safely and return them cleaned and stored after use.
Do not use power tools or equipment without permission.
Report damaged tools or unsafe items immediately.
🌿 6. Respect for the Environment
Reuse and recycle where possible.
Feed safe weeds and grasses to the pigs instead of burning or wasting them. Check with the owners first!
Avoid using any chemical sprays or pesticides.
Keep the property natural, peaceful, and free from unnecessary noise or waste.
