Berry Springs Farmstay is a private rural property and hobby farm, around 40 minutes from Darwin.
From time to time, we welcome reliable people who would like to experience everyday rural life while helping with our animals, gardens and property projects.
These are private helping and caretaking arrangements, not paid employment or formal volunteer positions. The aim is a simple exchange where people can experience life on the property while contributing a few hours of practical help each day.
🌿 Helpers
Helpers usually stay for a shorter period and assist for around 3 hours per day, generally with animal care, gardening, watering and outdoor projects.
If you need accommodation from us, please plan to stay for at least 4 weeks.
🏡 Caretakers
Caretaking is better suited to people interested in a longer stay who are reliable, independent and comfortable becoming familiar with the property, animals and daily routines.
Caretakers may stay for several months depending on the arrangement and what support is needed at the time.
💚 A Simple Rural Lifestyle
This is not a hotel, hostel or commercial campground. It is our home and a working hobby farm.
Life here is relaxed and surrounded by animals and tropical nature, but it also means respecting the property, following our animal and safety routines, and being comfortable with off-grid rural living.

Helping at Berry Springs Farmstay is about becoming part of the everyday rhythm of a small rural property.
Helpers generally contribute around 3 hours per day, with some flexibility depending on the weather, animals, current projects and individual arrangements.
Typical activities may include:

- 🧹 Keeping shared outdoor areas clean and tidy
- 🔨 Helping with simple property and outdoor projects

You don’t need to be an expert, but you should be reliable, practical and comfortable around animals and outdoor environments.

When animal care is involved, activities are generally divided between morning and late afternoon, rather than three continuous hours.
A typical routine may be approximately:

This is a private helping arrangement, not paid employment.
Helpers should not undertake additional hours or projects unless they have been discussed and agreed with the owner first.

We ask everyone staying here to use water and electricity thoughtfully and follow the property’s simple off-grid guidelines.
You don’t need previous off-grid experience — just a willingness to read the guidelines, ask when you’re unsure and respect the systems that keep the property running.
